Overview of OpenShift on Cloud de Confiance

This document provides an overview of Red Hat OpenShift and the benefits of running OpenShift clusters on Cloud de Confiance.

With its foundation in Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift is a comprehensive application platform that lets you develop, deploy, and manage your applications across the hybrid cloud. In partnership with Red Hat, Cloud de Confiance provides robust solutions to help you run OpenShift clusters reliably, securely, and cost-effectively.

The following sections describe the key advantages of running OpenShift clusters on Cloud de Confiance.

Workload migration

By migrating your OpenShift clusters from on-premises environments to Cloud de Confiance, you can take advantage of the following benefits:

Integrated Cloud de Confiance technology

The integration of Cloud de Confiance technology with the OpenShift platform helps you lower the infrastructure costs for running OpenShift clusters. Example scenarios include the following:

  • Use of custom machine sizing for bin packing.
  • Use of Hyperdisk storage pools for thin provisioning.
  • Use of Compute Engine bare metal instances for overcommit optimization.
  • Use of Cluster Services for OpenShift.

Flexible billing options

When you purchase a Red Hat OpenShift subscription from Google Cloud Marketplace, you get access to a pay-as-you-go pricing model. If you purchased any resource-based or spend-based commitments, then you can also receive committed use discounts (CUDs) for your OpenShift clusters on Cloud de Confiance.

If you're running OpenShift clusters in on-premises environments, then you can use the Bring Your Own Subscription (BYOS) model. The BYOS model lets you bring to Cloud de Confiance the OpenShift entitlements or Red Hat OpenShift subscriptions that you own.
